The Sharpsteen Museum Foundation (SMF) is a California non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a volunteer Board of Directors, established to manage long-term fundraising on behalf of the Sharpsteen Museum Association (SMA). It seeks to provide long term funding for the operation of the Sharpsteen Museum, including appropriate exhibit acquisition, preservation and display of artifacts integral to the history, the people and the culture of the Upper Napa Valley. Any contributions to the SMF may be designated and used for the purposes specified by a donor. More information about the SMF will be available on our web site shortly, and in the meantime, questions can be directed to Kent@DomogallaConsulting.com.
The Sharpsteen Museum Foundation is looking for a volunteer with experience in writing grant applications or a desire to become an “in-house” specialist dedicated to identifying potential grant funding sources and writing grant proposals and applications on behalf of the Museum. This would be an opportunity for the right person with the time and inclination to be a valuable volunteer for the Museum and at the same time update their skills or learn new and valuable ones. Napa Valley College has a suite of on-line courses designed to develop proficiency in grant formats used by most public foundations and to develop an understanding of the criteria funders use to determine whether a request gets funded. Other sources of in-person training opportunities are also available.
If you are the right person, the Museum Foundation will fund all training, and will contract for membership in the Foundation Center, the most comprehensive data source for grant availability. Of course we expect to benefit from your learning curve and your volunteer service.
