The Napa County Historical Society (NCHS) presents “Chinese in Napa Valley” on Friday, February 20 at the Sharpsteen Museum, located at 1311 Washington St. in Calistoga. PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT IS AT FULL CAPACITY; only those with a confirmed RSVP will be admitted. Please see the listing for our encore presentation on Mar. 5, while seats are still available.
“Chinese in Napa Valley,” directed and produced by Jeff Hamilton, EH LearnMedia, LLC, is a new documentary based on the book by John McCormick, revealing the pivotal yet long-overlooked contributions of Chinese immigrants to Napa County. Through archival images, family stories, and expert insight, it uncovers the labor, resilience and community life that helped shape the valley.
The screening will begin at 5:30 PM, with doors opening at 5:00 PM for seating. The documentary runs approximately 55 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and contributors.
Museum members may remember John McCormick’s lecture discussing his book at our Meet the Author event in 2023. Sharpsteen Board President Dean Enderlin is among the experts featured in the documentary.
PLEASE NOTE: This event is at full capacity. Only those with a confirmed advance RSVP will be admitted. Contact Media Chair Eden Umble, eden@sharpsteenmuseum.org with questions.
