1862 Brannan Resort Cottage

Go from miniature to life-size as you walk into an authentic cottage from Sam Brannan’s landmark Hot Springs Resort. Originally one of 14 cottages, today, just three of these distinctive, charming structures still stand. This California historic landmark (#675) was moved, fully restored, and now adjoins the Sharpsteen museum as a permanent interactive exhibit. Inside this historical building are authentic furnishings as they would have been seen in Napa Valley homes of the late 1800s, offering a glimpse into how residents lived during that era.

Fossville Barn, Blacksmith Shop & Kitchen

View a recreated barn from Knights Valley, once a key stop for stagecoaches en route to the Geysers. Inside, you'll find authentic 19th-century farming tools and domestic items that reflect early Calistoga settlers' rugged, rural lifestyle.

Stagecoach

See a beautifully restored stagecoach that once transported visitors between Clear Lake, The Geysers, and Calistoga in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Set against a vivid mural of 1890s Calistoga, this exhibit captures the excitement of arriving at the Calistoga Hotel.

Read about the white-knuckle rides as written in the 1871 “Handbook of Calistoga Springs,” available for purchase online and in the Museum Book & Gift Store.
